| Interesting Soup |
|
I like to do art, and I have worked in many mediums, including acrylic, oil, chalk pastels, collage and photography. The painting of the clown to the right is an example of my 2–D work. I also like to draw cartoons, make candles, and play the piano as best I can. In college I studied to be a poet, a filmmaker, a newspaper reporter and a children’s book writer. I have changed my path a few hundred times already in my life. I have worked as a TV news anchorwoman, a secretary, journalist, cook in a Mexican restaurant, an “extra” in a couple of movies, a worker in an alfalfa sprout factory, and an ear of corn…to name a few things.
Though I have worked at many occupations, I have always been a writer, too. That’s the great thing about being a writer, or any kind of artist, I think. You can take your life experiences into your art or writing. And whatever experience you add to your life, whatever ingredients (including the ups and downs and “calamities” that make you stronger and smarter) you can make a more rich, more interesting soup, I believe. Here is a painting I call “Keep the Top of Your Head Open.”
